There would appear to be prior art for all the listed claims, much of it rather famous.

Yeah, but it’s a plaque, and it’s about the only kind of concrete recognition that Sun was handing out to anyone in its last five years.

I have one, Bart has one, this is goodness.

    Lawyers, feh.

Perry: Prior art for *all* the listed claims? I’m surprised, if this is so (especially as some of the claims are decidedly esoteric).

If you’d care to provide pointers to the prior art, I don’t mind doing the leg-work in checking it all out.

alecm: You do? I admit, I didn’t know; would you like to share a pointer or the details?

Just received notification that my plaque is in the FedEx pipeline – expected delivery, Monday :-) .

alecm: I can make your name out, but the flash saturates all the other bits (still, patent applications are given extreme makeovers by the lawyers, anyway; I didn’t initially recognise our own invention, on initial receipt of the first draft patent app).

Still, I’m chuffed you have one, too. If you could summarise in a few words, which of your inventions it’s for, I’d really like to know… if Darren’s involved, I can only suspect it’s crypto-related…

    pluggable crypt.

Nice one, squire – well done :-) .

My own rather lovely lump of wood and brushed aluminium – for the same patent co-invented with Bart – arrived today, after a bit of a hiatus at Stansted :-) .

Innit funny, how there’s three names on the patent but often only two get mentioned as inventors?
