So it was a nice evening last night, and inspired by Chris Gerhard’s recent video effort I decided to hand-hold my Canon IXUS 900ti and see how far I could get homewards before I filled my 2Gb SD card.
All the way through the woods, and over the tank range, in turned out.
As an aside: getting the data off the card was problematic – the Mac swears that my 2Gb SD card is only 1Gb in size and gets horribly confused – various kernel modules crash – when trying to download the movies; similarly Picasa failed to do it under Windows, so eventually I slotted the card into a PCMCIA adapter, mounted it as a disk and got my Windows laptop to copy the data to the Mac via Samba. iMovie did the rest.
I’ll admit it’s not the most thrilling video, but it’ll make a change from the musical, perhaps sexier “flying along behind a fairing on a 2-wheel recumbent” videos that you find at The Recumbent Blog.
Plus the scenery’s nice, and the gorse flowers are lovely
If you don’t like the occasional camera shake, why don’t you try riding for 18 minutes, one-handed, cross country, on a two wheeler…
If you do like it, enjoy.
Cool.
If you were a bike pirate you’d tape your camera to your helmet.
Nice to see part of the teamsprint running route! I’m looking forward to part 2 – “from tank range to home”.
Am currently acquiring a suitable camera.
That’s really nice Alec.
What was the comment on that rise up to the Bailey Bridge where you rolled backwards a little, pointed the camera at the ground and said “That looks like a <lost>, of some sort” ?
Look forward to part 2!
I was riding along and something went “<tinkle>” onto the ground; you can almost hear a pin drop in that area, it’s so quiet.
So I rolled back downhill to check nothing had dropped-off / got lost, and found an odd bit of chicken wire or something, I must have run over it. Chucked it off the path in case it gave someone a puncture, and pedalled on.
Thanks for noticing.
Ahhh.. I thought you’d spotted an interesting beetle or the like! Much more mundane.
A very nice run home you’ve got, beats my hour on a train (though living around here makes up for it!).
